Who Does The Edge 200 Suit?
The Edge 200 is perfectly suited for those cyclists who don’t want to be bogged down by too many features that will never get used. This makes this particular odometer extremely economical in the features that it provides – it really is all killer and no filler.
This Edge 200 is perfectly suited for training, everyday use or when you are touring on your bicycle. Its lightweight, sleek design means it clips onto your bike with ease.
This is the entry level model of the edge line so it is a great place to start if you are looking to buy your first gps odometer.
The Edge 200 is equipped with a highly sensitive GPS receiver that uses HotFix satellite prediction in order to give you top grade locational information within seconds. This feature also lets you know if you are moving but the timer is not on, thus avoiding any mishaps. It also goes one step further – stopping the clock when you stop your bike and then restarting it when you get going again. You are also able to set alarms for different distances so you do not have to keep glancing at the odometer.
Details it Records
The Edge 200 measures all the important details. Whether you want to know how far that you have traveled, or how fast you did it in, this odometer will give you these details in an instance. It also stores up to as much as 130 hours of ride data while sorting this data into different categories like which was your fastest, longest or last ride to date.
Garmin Connect Feature
This brilliant feature allows you to upload all your ride information to the worldwide Garmin network of likeminded cyclists. From here, you can broaden your circle of friends and compete with other cyclist enthusiasts. The garmin site is pretty useful so you can see your rides over a period of time and keep track of them. This little extra feature makes it fun to follow your progress as you train or just ride along for the season.
The Courses Feature
This great feature enables you to see and attempt to best your previous times. A digital cyclist shows your speed to your past performance so you can keep track of just how well you are progressing. The Edge 200 also lets you download rides from other Garmin Connect users which you can use for competition.
Personal Biker Tip: Record your favorite ride or training ride better yet. Upload it using the gramin connect feature and then use the website to turn it into a course so you can then DOWNLOAD THE COURSE BACK! Bam, now you can race your virtual partner and watch your progress along the way to see if you can beat your time!

Reviews I read from Edge 200 Customers
People who bought this model were really after simplicity. One customer actually downgraded to it because he didn’t need all those extra features and at a price in the low $100 he was more than happy about it. A new biker was all about this because she was getting lost and it worked great for that and did not break the pocket book.
Other folks talked about wanting the ability to take this from bike to bike which is what I personally do with my edge 305. You have to buy an extra adapter to clip it into the other bike but those are cheap.
There were questions about how waterproof it was. It does claim to be waterproof up to 3 feet and there were bikers who used it in the rain with no issues. It’s electronics, though I wouldn’t get to crazy and drop it in water and let it sit there forever. 🙂
Here are a couple questions that I found useful that you will want to know about.
- Is there a clock ? There is but it is displayed on the home screen as indicated in the picture above in this article.
- Is there a lap timer? There is the ability to tell it when to count a lap. I like to have mine at 1 mile so I can see my times on how long it takes for each mile.
- What is displayed when riding? When riding it tracks the speed, time, distance you have road and then one other data point that you want to track.
